We don't all have to be sheep...

It amazes me that 'opinion polls' now show rising concerns a civil war will come to Iraq. Where have people been getting their news from for the last 5 years? Fox news and White House press briefings? "Stay the Course" and blindly follow your elected leader. That makes for treacherous political waters, but at least you 'don't 'show weakness by changing your opinion,' only a surplus of pride.

The advisors for the military, republican and democrat, foretold of civil war and the need for more troops in Iraq before we went in. It was reported by many sources...but did most Ameicans listen?

"shhhh, the president, and Sec. of Defense (a civilian, that has never served in combat) have a different idea."

Bottom line, the 'right' in office now can be way 'right' and the 'left' bellyaches way to far 'left.'

So, Americans...WAKE UP, take elements of both, seek out information from multiple sources and have your own opinion.

I certainly hear your perspective. When i say 'blindly following' I refer to so many folks I know that don't want to even consider the possibility that some watered down version of what the 'liberal media' reports may be true. Now with retired generals coming out and saying what they are, and Richard Clark's book etc... All that adds up to poll numbers in the low 30s.

As for 'holding leaders accountable' how? Maybe getting surveyed and maybe giving someone a low rating. Hogwash! There's no accountability, especially in the office of the Presidency in the 2nd term.

It's all money driven. Period. Bush is good at reacting to a situation but his foresight is extremely limited. Oil is a prime example. He and Cheney sold out. Clinton didn't do much better, but at least you know he consulted with conservation and alt. fuel groups.

I would really love for american leadership to develop a more realistic world view.
